Mimi and Shay welcomed us the morning of October 11th in a stunning Airbnb where their close relatives and friends stayed at and got ready the morning of the wedding. I was pulled aside by Mimi’s mom to be informed that Shay had had an accident a few days before, and had a large bandaid on his forehead to hide the stitches. Despite this, Shay was a total champ throughout the day, didn’t complain once and I’m pretty sure his headache diffused into pure joy the moment he saw Mimi on their first look! I mention this because this day we plan for years or months in advance happens and often times, something less than ideal unfolds that’s out of everyone’s control. Sometimes it’s really painful like a loved one not being there, sometimes it’s something frustrating like heavy rain. Whatever that thing is, I think the strongest couples understand that despite that, they’re still so lucky that out of everyone in the world, they found one another and because of it, they will get through anything together.
Shay and Mimi were picked up in a vintage mustang that took them around for more photos and then dropped them off at the marina where their Yacht awaited them. Their ceremony was one for the books and left us (and many of their friends) teary eyed from the kindness of their vows and the way they looked at one another. They enjoyed cocktails and warm hugs from their favorite people as the sun set during cocktail hour, they had their first dance, and after this, everyone walked downstairs for dinner. We were so honored that this couple sat us down at one of the tables where we got to take a break to have dinner with everyone. This is by no means a requirement or expectation, but it always puts a smile on my face when this happens because it makes me feel like I’m part of the family.
After this, the fun began! The party was unforgettable, every single guest danced their heart out and by the end of the night, these two ran away as husband and wife surrounded by sparklers. If you made it this far, leave a comment below sharing which photos are your favorite and enjoy some of my favorite memories from the day.
